Getting down to basics
|
Our Fundamentals of Smart Grantmaking (FSG) is a six-part workshop series designed to combine skill-building and peer networking with a special focus on best practices.
Courses are led by talented and engaging speakers, comprised primarily of DVG members who are some of our region’s most knowledgeable grantmaking professionals. Session topics focus on the essentials of good grantmaking practice, including:
- Proposal Review and Analysis
- Reviewing Nonprofit Financial Statements
- Site Visits
- Legal and Ethical Issues
- Grants Management
- Evaluation
Members may select individual sessions or attend the entire series. These workshops have proven equally valuable for staff and trustees, as well as those new to the field or more seasoned funders looking to refine their knowledge.
The series runs from September through March. While priority registration is given to DVG members, non-member grantmakers may request to attend a session as our guest.
The full schedule for our 2010-2011 workshops will be announced soon. Meanwhile, mark your calendar for our fall 2010 sessions:
- Perspectives on Proposal Review (9/22/10)
- Assessing a Nonprofit Organization’s Fiscal Health (10/20/10)
- Exploring the Possibility of Moving Your Organization’s Grantmaking Online (11/10/10)
