In July 2006, Delaware Valley Grantmakers completed
a new strategic plan that directed the organization
to continue its successful work in providing high quality
services to its members, but also challenged the organization
to add a more external focus to its work in the broader
community.
In September, we convened the first meeting of our
newly-formed Communications Committee,
which was charged with providing guidance in the development
of a comprehensive communications plan for DVG.
The project, which took place between December 2006
and May 2007, consisted of four primary phases:
1- A thorough assessment of DVG’s existing communications
program;
2- An audience analysis to learn more about the people
that DVG wants to reach with its communications;
3- Message testing with focus groups to gauge possible
communications strategies; and
4- Plan development.
The final Strategic Communications Plan was approved
by DVG's Board of Directors at their May 24, 2007 meeting.

Our thanks goes to our Communications Committee, led
by Frances Sheehan, and to the members and non-members
alike who contributed to the planning process by
serving as an interviewee, focus group participant
and/or survey respondent.
