employees, and individuals, and then allocate those contributions
to affiliated nonprofit charities. Major federated funds in Pennsylvania
include the United Way, Catholic Charities, and Jewish Federation.
Other federated funds in Pennsylvania include Black United Fund
of Pennsylvania, Bread and Roses Community Fund, Environmental
Fund for Pennsylvania, and Womens Way.
United Ways across the country raised $3.4 billion in 1998,
a 4.7% increase from the previous campaign season, according
to the United Way of America.
