Pennsylvania foundations designate grants for special population
groups. Note that grants may benefit multiple population groups
simultaneously (such as a grant for economically disadvantaged children).
This analysis is based on grants of $10,000 or more awarded by
a sample of foundations that represents more than half of the grant
dollars awarded by all Pennsylvania foundations.
From 1992 to 1999, Pennsylvania
grants dollars awarded to
special populations changed:
| women and girls +85% |
aging and elderly +61% |
| economically disadvantaged +56% |
disabled +50% |
| children and youth +46% |
racial and ethnic minorities + 7% |
| immigrants and refugees -40% |
