Trustee-Managed and Family Foundations

Much of DVG’s membership is comprised of private foundations, most of which were set-up by families and are run by either small staffs or by Trustees. Without a large, expert staff to research the family’s funding interests and take care of the day-to-day operations of the foundation, many people in family foundations find that belonging to DVG can help them to get fast, reliable answers to questions about their philanthropy and can provide them with a network of peers and experts who inform them through the sharing ideas and tips.

**NEW RESOURCE **

FAMILY PHILANTHROPY ONLINE
As part of our continuing efforts to provide new and improved services to our family foundation members, we are delighted to announce a new partnership with the National Center for Family Philanthropy to bring you Family Philanthropy Online (FP Online). This new offering for family foundations will provide you and your fellow trustees with an array of relevant information and useful tools to help make your family giving more effective. Key features of this service include:

Online Knowledge Center - The online Knowledge Center provides you with easy access to a searchable, comprehensive, and constantly updated collection of downloadable articles, case studies, profiles, research reports, and discussion papers. In addition to NCFP, content for the Knowledge Center is provided by BoardSource, GrantCraft, Stanford Social Innovation Review and other. This incredible resource is not only available for your personal use 24/7, but will also be extremely valuable in assisting the DVG staff in researching your philanthropy-related questions.

Family Philanthropy Teleconference Series - These monthly conference call seminars feature experts and practitioners on a wide range of topics, including raising charitable children, effective family governance, and new trends in family philanthropy.  If you are unable to listen in on a call, transcripts for all past teleconferences are available. As a member of DVG, you and your trustees can participate in these calls free of charge (registration for non-subscribers is $75 per line per call.)

Using FP Online and our other in-house resources, DVG staff can perform quick research to provide family foundation members with answers to your questions about payout requirements, communications with grantees, family dynamics in family foundations, board/governance issues and more.

NETWORKING and PROGRAMS
