Knowledge Resources for Grantmakers

DVG Resource Library

In its role as a clearinghouse of information about philanthropy, DVG has acquired an extensive collection of relevant philanthropy-themed books, journals, directories and magazines, which we have housed in a centralized Resource Library. Containing over 1,000 volumes, this collection has also been cataloged into a searchable computer database that provides easy access to information on specific topics and issues. Sample categories covered in DVG's Resource Library include:
Philanthropy Management
Family Foundations
Community Foundations
Corporate Philanthropy
Legal Issues
Community Issues
Government and Public Policy
Arts/Culture
Education

The library and database are invaluable research tools that allow DVG staff to answer your questions quickly and accurately. We welcome DVG members to come and peruse our collection in person and perform their own research. Members may also request a publication remotely (by title or by topic) and DVG will lend them the book free of charge for a two-week period.

>> See the New Titles link at the right for a list of recent acquisitions to DVG's resource collection.

To learn more about the publications in our library that address your philanthropic needs and interests, or to have a publication loaned to you, please contact Matt Smith at 215-790-9700, ext. 13 or matt@dvg.org.

Note: DVG's Resource Library is open to all staff and trustees of DVG member organizations as well as to new givers in our region. All grantseekers in the greater Philadelphia region may access philanthropic- and nonprofit-themed publications at the Regional Foundation Center, located at the Free Library of Philadelphia, Main Branch (Phone: 215-686-5423).
