On July 30, 2010, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and the Montgomery County Foundation joined with the Montgomery County Commissioners to host the first Montgomery County Arts & Culture Summit. More than 90 of the county’s artists, cultural groups, businesses, residents and government officials gathered at the Fine Arts Center at Montgomery County Community College to discuss the county's cultural assets and their impact on the residents and the economy.
Following a presentation on "The State of the Arts in Montgomery County”, attendees broke into nine groups for facilitated conversations to provide input for a vision statement and proposed goals for a county cultural planning process.

Tom Kaiden, Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance
Closing the event was Montgomery County's Director of Policy, Steve Nelson, who announced that the in the coming weeks the summit conveners would form a task force to start a cultural planning initiative in Montgomery County.
